Tourists rarely get here. The glaciers from here seem at arm's length. You can wade a mountain river, and only the destroyed bridge resembles its steep spring character. Around - endless hayfields and pastures. Local people harvest hay to make sure animals have something to eat for a long winter. On a high hill, a new church is being built on the foundation of the old. Here begins the road to Svaneti and the village of Ushguli, one of the most famous highland villages.

Previously, in these places, there was a cultural center of the Bronze Age and one of the stops of caravans of the Great Silk Road. In the city museum, there are exhibits from here - bronze buckles with the image of an animal feeding its baby, beads brought from distant Egypt and many other amazing finds.
